Shift Swap BoardWork & Workers · Trade a shift without the group chat
Florida

Who can take my Saturday?

Say the shift, the crew, and the rules you know. In a few seconds you get the swap request written out, the overtime and scheduling rules that could block it, and a shareable board for the whole crew. No account. Nothing stored.

Free — takes 20 seconds

The shift you need covered.

Day, hours, role, location, and what you can offer back. If your workplace has swap rules (manager approval, same classification, no overtime created), put them in.

Free. Takes a few seconds.

Why this exists

The group chat is where swaps go to die.

A request buried under forty messages, a taker who would go into overtime, a manager who never saw it. This writes the request so it gets answered, checks the rules that get swaps rejected, and gives the crew a board that is not an app to install.

How it works

Twenty seconds. Then a request people actually answer.

01

Say the shift

Day, hours, role, what you can offer. Nothing is saved.

02

Get it written and checked

The request, ready to paste, plus the overtime and rule check — in English or Spanish.

03

Run the board

The approval packet and the crew board template, in the crew plan.

Plans

Writing the request is free. The crew board is $29 a month.

The free version writes and checks your request. The crew plan gives a local or a unit a real board with approval tracking, for everyone, one price.

Common questions

Will this actually get my swap approved?

No — Shift Swap Board writes and checks the swap request in plain language, but it can be wrong and doesn't know your workplace's policy unless you type it in. It only applies rules you gave it; if you didn't mention approval windows, classification/license matching, overtime, or rest between shifts, it will just list those as things to ask about. Confirm with your manager or steward before you count on it.

Will I get overtime if I swap a shift?

Under the FLSA, hours over 40 in a single workweek are paid at 1.5×, and a swap that moves a shift across the week line can create or remove overtime for either person (see FLSA overtime, 29 U.S.C. § 207). Florida follows the federal 40-hour rule and has no daily-overtime or adult rest-between-shifts law. The tool only does this math from hours you actually typed in — for pay questions, call the U.S. DOL Wage and Hour Division at 1-866-487-9243.

I'm under 18 — can I still do this swap?

Be careful: Florida limits hours and late shifts for minors, and a swap can break those rules (Fla. Stat. 450.081 — child labor). If you or the person taking your shift is under 18, the tool won't write a late-night swap and points you to that source instead. This isn't legal advice — check with your employer if you're unsure.

Is it really free? Is what I paste stored?

A single swap packet is $4.99; a crew or local board with approval tracking is $29/month. Nothing you paste is stored, and there's no account needed. You can also just use a shared spreadsheet or pinned message as your board if you don't need the paid crew plan.

I'm in a union — does this override my contract?

No. If you mention a CBA, the tool will say the contract's scheduling and seniority articles govern, not the swap request it writes. Have your steward confirm before you rely on any swap.
